Your Holiness Dalai Lama!

The Tibetians need their own land. The Chinese needs to feed and shelter its increasing population. There must be a compromise between these two one sided views, and I know what it looks like!

Tibet is fiercely big, but has a population smaller than my country´s – Sweden. The Tibetian´s in the countryside have no access to schools for their children. Tibetian men are not allowed to marry Chinese women in Tibet, according to the Chinese laws in Tibet, but Chinese men are free to marry Tibetian women. What an injustice! These are probably not the only injustices pointed at the Tibetians specifically, from the Chinese gouvernment.

Despite this, the situation in Tibet could have been many times worse, if you take in consideration the cold bloodiness of the Chinese regime. So maybe there is a possibility to an agreement with the Chinese after all?

My proposition is that the government in Beijing sits down and discuss with Dalai Lama, the borders for a future sovereign Tibet! The last word would or should be, His Holiness Dalai lamas. The Tibetian´s do not need so much land, but at least good agricultural soil for the population they have got, and then some, if the population should increase in the future. We are talking about a slice of maybe one tenth of what counts as the Tibetian region today. The rest will be turned over to the Chinese, in exchange for a sovereign Tibetian state.

If there are natural resources in the new Chinese areas, which today is considered located in the region of Tibet, or if any such resources should be discovered in the future, the Tibetians should receive part of the income from them, but the Tibetian´s should also carry correspondingly economical responsibility for the prospecting- and extraction costs.

Tibet´s capital, Lhasa, will still(?) in the future belong to the Tibetian´s. No ethnical Chinese can be forced to leave the Tibetian areas, including the city of Lhasa. Before you commence negotiations, China should agree on ceasing colonization of Tibet, by transferring Chinese citizens to the Tibetian areas, as a sign of good will. Dalai Lama must recognize the Chinese´s, in Tibet, equal rights and responsibilities in a future sovereign Tibetian state. Similar recognition must be stated for the Tibetian´s whom by choice(!) stays within the land areas that will belong to the Chinese in the future.

The Chinese must willingly agree on not playing tricks, as a state, on Dalai Lama and/or the Tibetian ministry in the future. This should be a sovereign last article in the treaty, since playing tricks can be done even with the most thorough and well written treaties! Even if it will mean that it is to be a kind of diffuse last article in the treaty.

My proposition to you, your holiness Dalai Lama, is that you let the foreign minister of Sweden, Mr Carl Bildt, present the idea of a smaller but sovereign Tibetian state, to the Chinese government in Beijing! What have you got to lose? I will send a copy of this letter, by email to Mr Carl Bildt. Tibet could be the new Israel, a chosen people with its own land.

Sincerely; Roger Klang, Lund, Sweden 4/14/2009
